Application Process
We appreciate your interest in the Pinnacle Academy. Our program has
been developed from years of expertise and specialized services for
children with autism and related disabilities. Every aspect of our
program has been tailored to meet the developmental challenges that
our children may face in the areas of communication, socialization,
and behavior. Our teaching philosophy is grounded in the practice of
operant conditioning, which means that our children are motivated
throughout the school day by the reinforcing conditions of their
environment-peers and teachers. This practice increases the child’s
self esteem and develops intrinsic rewards. |

Our program is an eclectic one. We know from experience that our
children are like “snowflakes”~no two are ever alike and so neither
should their treatment or education be alike. Programs are designed
at Pinnacle to meet each child’s individual needs. Speech and
occupational therapists are an important part of our team. With a
small ratio, our program offers students the individualization they
may need, but does not constrain them to a 1:1. Our goal for them is
maximum growth and independence in a more realistic setting. For
some of our children, Pinnacle will be a permanent school placement
and for others, a catalyst to the next place.
Information and initial registration/interest form is available for
you to complete and send to the school with a copy of your child’s
current individual education plan (IEP). |
If you would like to pursue
Pinnacle as an educational option for your child, we encourage you
to schedule a tour of the school as your next step. We believe that
you know your child better than anyone else and should make a
decision based on observing the program in action. From there, we
will schedule an evaluation. A full developmental profile will
assist us in assessing your child’s strengths and areas of need. It
will also help us to identify an appropriate placement for your
child so that we can place your child in the learning environment,
which best suits him/her. If a space is not ready, your child may be
placed on the wait list until an opening becomes available.
