Our Pinnacle Staff About the Director… Dr. Kirstina Ordetx has over twenty years of experience in providing developmental and therapeutic intervention to children with varying exceptionalities. After completing certification coursework in applied behavior analysis in 1992, she began to specialize in the application of “blended therapies”, a term she has given to the eclectic combination of proven best practice approaches to treating autism spectrum disorders. “If there was one single method that worked for every child, then everyone would be using it. Unfortunately, autism is more complicated and multi-faceted. Each child and family requires a highly individualized blending of proven methodologies. Pinnacle combines the practices of behavioral and developmental approaches to instruction.” Dr. Ordetx’s professional experience includes play therapy, forensic psychology, social skills training, cognitive behavior therapy, conflict resolution, professional development, parent training, and curriculum development for inclusion programming. After the successful treatment of numerous children with ASD and related behavioral disorders, the Pinnacle Academy was opened in 2001. “Children should be pushed to their maximum potential in an atmosphere, which is interactive and promotes the generalization of skills”. Dr. Ordetx directs the school program, provides individual and group therapies, presents at statewide and national conferences, and teaches graduate courses in psychology/behavioral sciences. The
teaching staff at Pinnacle Academy have been hand-selected and
recruited for their dedication and enthusiasm to the treatment of
autism and related behavioral disorders. Teachers and therapists
have extensive experience, a degree, and/or certification in applied
behavior analysis, special education, speech/language disorders,
occupational therapy, psychology, or a related field.
